wantsallthegirls: (Stop attacking MY royal property)
Your regular HMD post. Tell me if I screw up and such, please.

Also, opt-out! If you do not want Fatora here to tag your characters for any reason, just tell me here, and I'll heed that, no problem.
wantsallthegirls: (Default)
Backtagging: Yes, I'm european, so I love to :)
Threadhopping/Threadjacking: Go ahead, but please be fair about it, ie don't just threadjack and then do your own thread ignoring this journal.
Fourthwalling/Canon Puncturing: Doesn't apply
Offensive Subjects: Non-consensual situations outside of general creeping are a huge no, and I really don't deal with mind control well at all. This includes mind controlled flirting.

Can I slap/step on/etc? Yes. Also feel free to blow her up, her power helps enabling this without unduly troubling your character. Basically, feel free as if she was Ranma in Ranma 1/2 or Tom in Tom&Jerry, especially if she was flirty and annoyed your character.

Hugging/kissing/other non-violent physical contact: Hugging: Go ahead! Kissing: She'll likely react like a snake if you try it and are a guy, girls she'll be the one trying to kiss. For others, really, generally it's entirely okay and will be reacted to accordingly.

Maim/murder/death: Situational, would have to discuss this in detail

And now to the *reverse* permissions:
Fatora is a huge flirt and tries to hit on most women - in this case, anyone that seems 14+. It is 100% okay if you do not want this. Tell me, and I will simply not do it (Fatora simply decided your character is not her type). If you don't want her to tag your character at all, I am fine with this as well. Just please drop me a note, so I know!.

While she is a creeper, I try not to be, and I'll be sure to avoid it when I know that it bugs you :)

IF UNDER 18 YEARS OLD, PLEASE STATE YOUR AGE: Older than 18

PERSONAL JOURNAL: None :(
CHARACTERS PLAYED: None

CHARACTER INFORMATION
NAME: Fatora Venus (not Roshtaria, sorry for the goof-up on the reserve)
CANON: El Hazard (particularly the second OVA and the second TV series, which show more of her personality)
CANON REFERENCE: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/El-Hazard
AGE: 17
GENDER: Female
YEAR IN SCHOOL/FACULTY POSITION: HS4, BUT.

Fatora did not attend a school, she was basically... 'home schooled' by private teachers. She is essentially done with her education...but.

Her education
-is missing some things nearly entirely (american history, for example, writing anything that isn't poetry)
-odd in others (only participated in 'rich people' sports such as riding, fencing, or hawking(yes really), she has zero experience with team sports because, well, princess)
-university level in others (law, math).

She knows english well enough, but might still goof up a word here and there. She thinks the capital is spelled Washingone, for example. [This is a trait I picked from the series, where she did similar with some names]

Overall, I think it's entirely likely she'd be put into HS4 (or 3?). For example so she can be forced to "learn team spirit" in team sports. It might give her CR opportunities.

APPEARANCE: Fatora is a 5'7" tall woman with very long, black hair, light skin tone, generally middle-eastern features, and amber eyes. She is considered quite pretty, and has a body that is quite attractive and slender; the only thing missing from conventional beauty norms would be her chest, which is "only" of average size.
The clothes she tends to wear are rather wide, and do not correspond very well to American fashion
Here is a picture that shows body type, hair, and odd fashion ideas.
PERSONALITY:
The most concise description of Fatora is this:
Arrogant, selfish, nymphomanic, devious lesbian jerk.
One likely expects a "at first glance, but..." here, but there really isn't any way to write that and remain honest. It's mostly accurate, at second and third glance as well.

She is arrogant, because she does consider herself to be somewhat better than other people due to being of royal blood, and her property to be more valuable as well. For example, she did not even see the need to thank someone for saving her, she actually complained because she wasn't saved early enough (mind, she did end up being tortured, which worsened her opinion somewhat, but it's still a trait that she shows). She also tends to trash-talk places a bit that she sees as below her station - a nice little house to stay in for the night was a "dump" for her. The word "commoner" is something she still uses.

Her arrogance goes to downright weird lengths. At one point, she was taken hostage by a giant bug (who could snap her like a twig) and a megalomaniacal wannabe-dictator. What happened? *She* made demands of *them*. For her cooperation, she demanded them to become her slaves, and she tried to boss them around. Even the megalomaniacal dictator called her arrogant, and he’s known for his arrogance.

She is selfish, for reasons already touched upon in the first example. For example, in her canon, she went on a voyage alongside other people. Her lover - much shorter than she was - ended up carrying their entire luggage. It did not even occur to Fatora to offer some help, despite loving said lover. Similarly, she is perfectly fine with dragging people along with her plans, even if it inconveniences them.
That said, she is not always selfish in every situation. At a different point in her canon, she shielded her lover's brother with her own body. She does have morals, and they might show sometimes, but in most situations that aren't serious, you likely won't see much altruism from her unless she has a reason to offer it. And even if she, say, shields someone with her body, she'd likely mention it afterwards and demand proper thanks.

She is nymphomanic, because, well, let's face it, a large part of her motivation really is picking up girls. Not guys (about this she is very outspoken), and not ALL women, but she tries to hit on pretty much all females that she considers attractive. This includes potential enemies - at one point in her canon, she thought it was a brilliant idea to sneak into a heavily guarded fortress, filled with troops in heavy armor, while not having any weapon herself, just to get close to a female officer she had set her eyes on. At a different point, she tried a seduction while a superweapon was going haywire.
She is also perfectly fine with pursuing multiple people at once (even when they are in the same ROOM!), while already having a steady lover, making her polyamorous. She isn't hiding that, either.
One might want to go the amateur-psychology route here, and try to find some reasons for it in her past, but ultimately, it's really just that she loves skirt-chasing, and that's all there is to it.

Lesbian isn't really a part of the personality (since, really, all her vices have very little to do with it, and stem more from her general personality and upbringing; her being a rather open, proud lesbian would probably be one of her few positive traits), but jerk is. Among the above things, she's very unlikely to say sorry (unless it gives her a seduction advantage, and even then only maybe), and thanking is rather hard on her, too.
She just doesn't consider the feelings of other people too often, unless she is seducing or in bed.

Finally, she is devious. She can go through quite a lot of lengths to pursue her goals (usually flirting). These plans can involve elaborate costumes, or the above mentioned fortress infiltration. When she really sets her mind to something, she can even be surprisingly good at such things, especially sneaky stuff. That's really not a positive trait, if one thinks about it.

So, after covering her basic behavior, we're left with motivation. Why is she really acting that way? Well, the skirt chasing is, for her, value in itself, because she really likes spending quality time with other women (regardless of their skin color, social status, weird clothes, or whatever oddity might come up, as long as the girl's pretty, she's fair game), but aside that, her behavior seems to be motivated by a craving for some form of excitement. She appears to be rather easily bored, and most of the things she will do will center on her own amusement in some form. Not all of these activities will center on chasing women, but well, a lot probably will; she's just...really fond of doing that. Depending on how it goes, she might even "help" a bit. Mostly to impress girls, sadly. Altruism and Fatora don't mix well.

Definitely not the most typical X-Men member, that's for sure. She's only here due to her history section, not for her character or morals.

That said, brotherhood material she isn't either. She considers herself better, somewhat, than normal people (after all, she's royal!), but that's a paternalistic, not a genocidal version of that belief.

POWERS/ABILITIES:
Fatora’s power is hereditary and has been in her family for quite a while, although she has been the first in several decades to actually being able to use it.
Mainly, it is energy/force absorption, but only energy/force that moves "at" the mutant. For example, when touching a hot plate, she would absorb the energy of the heat that would burn her, resulting in her getting an itchy hand instead. A battery might contain more energy, but since it's not shocking her in some form, she cannot access it in any way.
On the other hand, a robot shooting her with an electric arc allows her to drain a portion of the electricity of the arc. It would not allow her to drain more than what is actually shot at her, though.

The absorption is not 100% (otherwise she would be immune to damage), and tends to only drain a part of an attack, often resulting in her getting hit anyway. However, the result tends to be so that attacks that would normally kill her end up mostly scorching her/throwing her around/burying her, etc. Wounds cause lesser damage as well, et cetera.
As such, the absorption is not a conscious decision, and happens even if she is unconscious or asleep.
TL, DR: Use violence on her and the result is, more often than not, similar to the result of cartoon violence, even if the power normally would have killed her. Explode her? She'll end up covered in soot, embarrassed, and probably in quite a bit of pain, but she'll have no severe burns and even her hair isn't damaged.
In practice, this is like rapid regeneration with the twist below.

What happens with the energy? Well, first and foremost, a small part is boosting her considerable stamina (oocly explaining it). The main part, sadly, is stored. If it gets to be too much (for example by continuously electrocuting her as a form of torture), it'll eventually release itself in a massive gravity distortion over which she has no control, and which will be rather damaging to the area it happens in on a large scale. This? Cannot be controlled in any way by Fatora and is more a plot thing than an ability that will be used actively by me in the game.
She has no say in when it happens, how it happens, and what it destroys. The only way to actually control this part of the ability is a device called Eye of God, which is an ancient superweapon. Fatora does not have this, so no control.

As for generic skills, those are mostly related to governing, a bit of economics, math, and the like. She's also, for an untrained person, extremely good at sneaking.

AU HISTORY:
The country of Roshtaria is a small nation in the general region of the Middle East - like similar countries that do not exist in the real world but do in Marvel, Roshtaria does not have a fixed place on the world map and does not need one, as what mostly matters is the region it is in, for appearance and style.
The country is somewhat old. It has been a part of the Roman, then the Byzantine Empire, and has been a small, independent nation ever since the fall of the later empire. Its culture is notably influenced by Arabic architecture and fashion, although culturally, it’s somewhat different, women tend to play a more pronounced role in politics.

The country is not a democracy, but a monarchy, however, the government has always been based on councils, and lately, several of those are elected, making it overall a little more free than some of the other countries in the region.

Its current ruler (who is bound by several councils) is a woman called Rune Venus, who is rather young (close to her thirties). Fatora is her sister.

Fatora was always an odd child, never really liking studies or formal occasions much (she knew when to sit quiet, she just found them very boring). But how unusual she was showed when she got into her teenage years. She rather liked, well, flirting. With women. In Roshtaria, this was less of a problem than in most countries in the region, but it still was considered odd enough for her to be pretty much sidelined for the throne unless her sister would die without child.

This trait of her is likely being treated similarly to adventurous lifestyles of, say, European princes or sons of Arabic despots: The yellow press will have mentioned this on occasion, especially if she tried (or even succeeded at it, which is not entirely unlikely) to seduce a visiting starlet or the like.

She likely would have led a life of luxury and doing whatever she wanted, but things turned out differently. The reason was her mutation.

Roshtaria had a long line of kings and queens, and it has indeed been only one family. Other families married into it, sure, but the main line remained. The reason for this was that the family was considered powerful. The mythological family history ascribes a kind of magic to them (which, in later centuries, got changed to miracle/blessing). The story tells of an old weapon, the Eye of God, which the family supposedly used to vanquish their foes, founding the original country.

This story is completely accurate. The Eye of God – which is actually an ancient device that boosts a specific mutation and makes it controllable – existed, and the power ascribed to the family is simply that, a mutation that has been recessive in the family line. Today, few outside the family know these stories. The Eye of God – whose actual shape has been forgotten – has been lost, long ago. Its latest mention was in annals of the early Byzantine empire, but even these are fragmented and uncertain.

Several months ago, it became obvious that other people knew the old stories. A unidentified group of people abducted princess Fatora, to use an artifact they found, which they believed was the Eye of God of the stories. The princess was tortured, to bring forth the mutation (which they already knew to be there, oddly enough), so the Eye could be properly accessed. What for is unknown, but it likely was massive destruction.

Whatever these people planned, it was foiled. Whatever device they had either was not the real thing, or had been used wrongly, and the hideout was pretty much destroyed, collapsing in a massive gravity distortion. Without a team of X-Men – who had taken interest in the abduction – Fatora would likely have remained a captive still, as her captors were not wiped out, but thanks to the arriving X-Men, her abductors only managed to save the device itself, and could not take the princess with them.

In the weeks that followed, several things became obvious. One, that Fatora was a target. Two, that she had a mutation that was possibly dangerous, because she had no control over an aspect of it. Three, that she couldn’t really stay in Roshtaria. After many negotiations (mostly with Fatora, who was unwilling to leave her lover(s) behind…yes, that was seriously her main problem), the end result was a decision for the princess to grudgingly move, at least temporarily, to the main base of the X-Men.

THIRD PERSON SAMPLE:
Fatora was pacing back and forth in the corridor in front of her room. This wouldn't do. At all. This place was terrible, practically a run-down shack! The bed was tiny, you could barely fit two people in there, and there weren't enough pillows, either!

And, worst of all, no maidservants ANYWHERE. That was a pretty big deal indeed. Oh, not because she couldn't get dressed on her own, that wasn't an issue, it was just...augh! It was so infuriating! How dare this place be so...so primitive! There wasn't even a fountain anywhere, and what about all the guys around? Really, there were far too many for her liking.

Yes, she was going to complain about this. She wasn't just any peasant, who was fine with living in the equivalent of a rotten haystack, she was a princess! She deserved better!

Footsteps got her attention at this point, and she turned towards them, all indignation. She would show them her royal wra-- oh! A pretty girl!

While her rage wasn't forgotten, it was placed pretty much at the side, and Fatora put up an entirely innocent face. "Why hello, pretty~"
